The most common FIBERMIX® blends are 50/50, 65/35, 70/30 and 20/80. A lack of uniformity in coconut fiber will lead to an uneven growing area and make crop management much more difficult during the season, which is why uniformity is a critical issue in substrate production and something that needs to be discussed with every coconut fiber manufacturer.
A quality, uniform substrate will be reflected in production by how comfortable the crop's roots are. The canopy will be strong and vigorous, producing top-quality blueberries. When roots grow in coconut fiber, they expand comfortably and quickly because it is an organic medium, and coconut fiber chips are micro-sponges that slowly release nutrients between irrigations, resulting in a very well-balanced plant.
