TALENT FROM SINALOA

From Guasave, Sinaloa, meet Antonia Quintero, regional blueberry technician at Hortifrut and a true superheroine of the field. For the past four years, blueberries have been her passion, allowing her to do what she loves most: teaching and advising.

At 33,  Antonia holds a bachelor's degree in biology and a master's degree in Plant Nutrition, and she splits her time between advising growers and caring for her 3-year-old son.

Although she initially planned to go into teaching, fate led her down the path of agriculture. She started out in the state of Jalisco and, once she had specialized in Plant Nutrition, discovered that this would be her calling.

Later, she had the opportunity to return to her native Sinaloa, and she didn't think twice, since it allowed her to perfectly balance her life as a mom and as a professional.

Since 2019, she has been advising growers across the Sinaloa region: Los Mochis, Guasave, El Carrizo, and part of Culiacán, helping numerous growers join the #AgTech revolution.

A SUCCESSFUL BALANCE

Antonia has not only had to earn her place in the industry, which as a woman involves tough and different challenges, but she has also had to balance her time to provide her family with both emotional and financial support. That is why the #AgroHero title has a deeper meaning in Antonia's story.

But for Antonia, being a woman and a mother has never been a limitation. As she puts it, “the agronomic world can give us the confidence to grow professionally as successful women without setting aside the emotional and family side.”

This is how Antonia Quintero has built her life in the agronomy field. Besides being a regional technician at Hortifrut, she currently advises students on their blueberry theses, an activity she greatly enjoys and would like to keep doing in the future.

She is, without a doubt, a clear example that discipline backed by results knows no gender.
