Today's environmental challenges require us to adopt responsible practices in every area, including agriculture, to ensure a prosperous future for our country and the planet.

That's why we invited Dr. Alberto Búrquez, a researcher in the Department of Biodiversity Ecology at UNAM, to a brief interview in which he discusses the current state of agriculture in Mexico in relation to drought levels and climate change.

He highlights the challenges posed by climate factors, including greater water demand driven by population growth, industry, and inefficient farming practices.

Dr. Búrquez stresses the need for a paradigm shift toward sustainable agriculture and the adoption of the circular economy model, which focuses on the efficient use of resources, waste reduction, and recycling. Failing to adopt this model could lead to social, economic, and environmental crises.

He also underscores the urgency of changing production methods to ensure the survival of human society in the face of global climate change.
