Our focus is on helping our grower friends succeed. We love supporting growers in their new ventures and helping them optimize their production. Growing hydroponically comes with many challenges, which is why we love sharing our growers' stories.

In this article, we focus on a beautiful ranch in Los Mochis, Sinaloa, Mexico, that uses the latest AgTech to produce blueberries.

For this interview, we spoke with Jorge Rousset, a proud entrepreneur and CFO of Grupo Agrícola Ocalle, a family-owned agribusiness specializing in potato production and now blueberries. This blueberry project was established in 2020 on 10 hectares and has been growing ever since. Jorge tells us all about his project so far and how AgTech and DIDIHU's support are helping him.

Jorge shares: “We were researching blueberries, looking at the different varieties, different irrigation systems, the different pots, and all the technology. We wanted it to be a better, more profitable business. At the time we were advised by Raúl Mercado from DIDIHU, and we started looking for the best technology package for growing blueberries.”

An excellent relationship with DIDIHU

DIDIHU has been a trusted ally for Jorge since the start of the project. “I trust DIDIHU because of the research they do. They are highly experienced growers, they share a lot of knowledge, and when it comes to innovation they are always at the cutting edge. We've had their support from planting to harvest. I feel very confident working together.”

“Some of the advantages we're seeing with hydroponics are savings in water, fertilizers, and chemicals; it's a much more efficient way to manage the crop. Much better yields and better quality,” Jorge explains.

Jorge adds his vision of agricultural sustainability: “We have a vision of sustainable agriculture, and that's why we got into hydroponics. The future is already here, and I think hydroponics will start to be seen not only in blueberries but in other types of crops as well. Producing more with less, sustainably, is the way forward.”
